In order for players to qualify to play up to a higher age level the following must take place:
An application to "play up" must be submitted to the League Player Agent via our registration system.
The player will be evaluated at an evaluation and/or input will be gathered from managers/coaches familiar with the player and the overall talent level of the division the player is seeking to play in.
Based upon the available information, a recommendation will be made to the Board of Directors.
If players are not determined to be eligible for the higher division, they will be included in the division where they normally would been placed based upon their little league age.
Player talent level is not the sole determining factor for a play up application. Even is a player is physically capable of playing with a higher division, the Board must consider the number of players in the division that the player is seeking to play up to and the division the player is seeking to play up from to ensure fair, balanced and full teams in each division. This determination cannot be made until registration process is complete so that the Board can determine how many players have signed up in each age bracket/divisoin for the current season.
For those parents or guardians who were thinking of managing in the regular league for which their child would normally qualify based on their grade, an application to play up will be taken into consideration to determine if you will be able to manage/coach a team. Managers must be named prior to the tryout date in early March so the managers can evaluate the players. If the parent or guardian of a child were named a league manager of a team at the regular grade level and then their child were to subsequently be allowed to play up to the higher division, there may not be sufficient time to replace the manager due to the timing of the league drafts.
